2012 LAND ROVER LR4 – VERY DANGEROUS FUEL LEAKING FROM THE TOP OF THE GAS TANK

My friend’s Land Rover LR4 smelled like gas after driving it.  The plastic cap or cover for the gas tank was cracked causing fuel to spray out of the top of it when it was pressurized by the fuel pump.  Land Rover calls this part the ‘Petrol Flange’.  It is called the fuel filter dust cap on some websites.  The new version has an improvement in the plastic design which seems to solve the problem.  Here is a video I made showing the process…and the repair.

I know this video doesn’t show the complete process from start to finish, but Hopefully you get the idea on how to solve this issue. It looks to be a fairly common issue. I am a little surprised that they haven’t issued a recall on this.
Thanks for watching!
