Kenmore 500 Series Gas Dryer Not Starting – How to Test and ReplaceThermal Fuse


– Dryer Thermal Fuse & Dryer High Limit Thermostat & Dryer Cycling Thermostat – Compatible with Whirlpool Kenmore Dryer I bought this kit just to be prepared in case one of the other high limit switches or fuses or thermostats tested bad. The thermal fuse is included in this kit.

– AstroAI Multimeter

– Outlet / Receptacle Tester

– Gardus RLE202 LintEater Rotary Dryer Vent Cleaning System (be careful to not run this in reverse)

Just a quick video showing how to fix a Kenmore 500 Series Gas Dryer that would not start. This ended up being caused by the thermal fuse that was bad. The dryer vent hose was pretty full of lint caused it to overheat and fail. It’s important to keep the lint screen and housing clean and clear along with all of the dryer vents.

You will need:
a Multimeter set on Ohms
A Flat Putty Knife to release the clips on the dryer lid
a 1/4″ nut driver and/or drill or other type of wrench to remove the back panel.
