2001 Toyota Avalon – Replacing the Hood Support Struts

If you read my blog post on the 2001 Toyota Avalon, you can imagine the frustration I felt every time I popped the hood to diagnose it or work on the misfire problem I had, I had to find something to prop the hood up. -Not anymore.
Here’s the video on how to replace the hood support struts.

These are similar to many other Toyota models as well. I found these replacement struts on Amazon.com.

Click the above link to buy the replacement hood struts that I bought from Amazon.
You will only need a small flat-head or blade screwdriver to replace them.
I have used this same brand of replacement hood strut on my Lexus LX450 (same as Toyota Land Cruiser) and they worked great.
This job should only take about 15 minutes total. Just make sure you have something to prop the hood open, or a helper that won’t get tired of holding the hood up over their head for a few minutes while you disconnect and install the new hood lift struts.
