2008 Acura MDX – How to Replace Front Brake Pads & Rotors – Complete Brake Job – Easy DIY!


– Max Advanced Brakes Premium OE (Original Equipment) Front Rotors with Ceramic Brake Pads KT042441 (Not what I used in the video, but this is a good brand I have used previously)

– MILWAUKEE’S Mid-Torque Impact Wrench,3/8″

– Milwaukee 2767-20 M18 FUEL High Torque 1/2″ Impact Wrench with Friction Ring

– VESSEL MEGADORA IMPACTA Impact Driven Screwdriver +3×150 (6″) No.980 980P3150 (This is the tool I use to take out the rotor screws without stripping them)
– Rotor Remover 9000 (a.k.a. Small sledgehammer)
– 8-Pack of Rotor Screws for Brake Discs – Universal Fit for Honda (If you need to take the rotor off and strip the screws out)
– Brake Caliper Hooks / Brake Caliper Hangers – Excellent Hook / Hanger for Automotive Tool Use – by Mission Automotive
– Permatex 80078 Anti-Seize Lubricant
– Permatex 24200 6 Pack 6ml Threadlocker, Blue
– Versachem 26080 Synthetic Caliper Grease
– Mayhew Dominator Pry Bar
– Milwaukee M12 3/8″ high speed ratchet
– GearWrench 3/8″ drive torque wrench 10-100 ft. lbs 85062
Brake Caliper Compression Tool
This tool is sometimes helpful if the screwdriver or pry bar trick doesn’t push the caliper all the way in.
– Brass Wire Wheel Brush Kit for Drill

Just a quick video showing how I changed the Front Brake Pads & Rotors on a 2008 Acura MDX.
Tools needed:
17mm socket and/or wrench for caliper slide pin bolts
19mm socket and/or wrench or breaker bar for caliper bracket bolts
Flathead Screwdriver or pry bar for prying the caliper piston back in.
A ‘C’ Clamp or the caliper piston compression tool works fine too.
Torque wrench
Brake grease
Medium strength thread locker
The torque specs I found online are:
53 ft. lbs for the caliper slide pin bolts
101 ft. lbs for the larger caliper bracket bolts
